After they have written their arguments, they should practice presenting their arguments by videotaping themselves. They should watch the video of themselves and discuss with their partner the changes they should make. Now the students will present their arguments to the class. Use the following schedule as guideline for organizing the debate. Each topic will take about 15 minutes, so allow a few days to complete all debates.

While the students present their arguments, those in the audience should post their analysis of the debate to the "Evaluating Debates" page (link at bottom of page).
The grading rubric below should be used as a guideline for the students, so they know the requirements for the debate. The grading rubric provided contains a section for rebuttal, but since this lesson does not require students to rebut, this section should be removed.
